Sanyo opens an eco-friendly bicycle parking lot in Tokyo
TOKYO (03/16/2010) — Two high-tech, eco-friendly parking lots opening in Tokyo on Tuesday for electric bicycles. The lots, in the city’s Setagaya ward, collectively have 100 of Sanyo’s Eneloop bicycles for hire. At the parking lot the bicycles are recharged by electricty collected from solar panels on its roof. Sunlight is converted into electrical energy during the day and stored in batteries, which are then used to charge up bicycle batteries as the cycles are returned.
